Bharatpur Beach has coral reefs teeming with tropical fish, Laxmanpur Beach is known for its sunset views and then there is Sitapur Beach which is known for its natural Bridge (locally called the Howrah Bridge). It is a natural rock formation that is visible at low tide.

Geography and Location:

Located about 40 kilometres northeast of Port Blair, the capital city of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Neil Island (also known as Shaheed Dweep) spans an area of approximately 18.9 square kilometres. It is one of the three islands that form the Ritchie's Archipelago, along with Havelock Island and Ross Island.

Getting There:

To reach Neil Island, travellers can take a ferry from Phoenix Boat Jetty of Port Blair. The ferry ride is an experience in itself, with panoramic views of the vast ocean and occasional sightings of playful dolphins. The journey usually takes around two hours, allowing travellers to immerse themselves in the anticipation of the paradise awaiting them. The ferry is operated both by government as well as private operators.  Neil is also connected with other major islands of Andaman through ferry services.

Neil Island is perfect for a peaceful holiday. This small Island is known as the vegetable bowl of Andaman Island. The entire Neil can be bicycled around in a single day. Neil is preferred for its laid-back vibe and silence and thus this island is different from its neighbouring Havelock Island. It can be started with a sunrise from Sitapur beach, followed by visiting either the natural rock formation or the Bharatpur beach, and then ends the day with a view of the sunset down at the gorgeous Lakshmanpur beach.

Climate

Neil mainly has three main seasons, summer, winter, and monsoon. The island can be visited and enjoyed throughout the year. Owing to its location in the Bay of Bengal, it experiences heavy winds during the monsoon months. Early November until mid-May sees the best weather in the islands.
